This unlocked my physical therapy career.... isn't it obvious now?

Dr Phil Plisky posted this pearl of a question. My answer is below.

For me? The internet. I live a long way from.... (well I guess we all live a long way from something). I was self-studying to improve my programming for a better 400m run. Via the internet I stumbled across content by Mark Verstegen of Athletes Performance (now EXOS), and Mike Boyle. Here's the rub...... both of them said they did a Functional Movement Screen before they began programming. I had to know more. I'd been doing MSK Screens with athletes since I graduated Physiotherapy in 1999 and wanted to learn more about this screen they spoke of. This was approximately 2008.

From then, the learning in my physical therapy career was exponential, and the internet permitted access to people whose accountability to providing better diagnoses and change, measurable change, via movement, within a system. I had not had that in the previous 9 years.

We shouldn't have to wait 9 years to learn the value of better systems, but I value what I learned because of those 9 years of not having a system as good.
